Ampersand
A symbol that represents the word 'and'
What do I do,
when hope starts to hurt
and I'm forgetting there's more
to this life.
With one eye open
I'm walking with idols
longing for mindful hearts
and heartful minds.
I want to live in a love of your persuasion,
where roots and seeds can thrive,
What good is it to wear a cross,
if I don't carry mine.
Teach me how to suffer well,
for this sorrow is oil to you,
let it burn with a quiet courage,
for all darkness to be consumed.
Lessen my resistance to the changing waves,
as we inherit the land of welcoming,
let faith take up for space in our lives,
ever moving.
And free me from the satisfaction
of anothers words and praises,
for you are the something more,
and the something more never changes.
I want to burn up, not burn out
because there's more
This poem is from a poetry collection of mine called βI Pray Thee, Mark Meβ where I take unusual, defunct or unused glyphs and punctuation as an anchoring theme for the words written in tempest seasons.
