Certitude Point
a punctuation mark designed to show absolute conviction.
How can I be certain of anything,
when your word is the very thing I'm questioning,
the valley invites a storm closing in.
I'm still trying to see.
Would Your hand hold this weary head,
when contempt's main ingredient,
if clarity is a kindness,
why won't you be clear?
I'm just trying to find my bearings,
from the One with no fear or failings,
whose eyes have seen the ages
and draws me in still.
Show me storms that have come to pass,
so when this ego is fragile at last,
shattering to surrender’s grasp,
this doubt is faith’s reprise.
I don't doubt your ability,
but I doubt your desire for me.
This heart is held with scaffolding,
would you rebuild it again?
I won't acquire Your diluted crown,
the one religion passes down,
if Your love is joy in the deepest drought,
then I want the real thing.
I'm just trying to find my bearings,
from the One with no fear or failings,
whose eyes have seen the ages
and draws me in still.
Show me storms that have come to pass,
so when this ego is fragile at last,
shattering to surrender’s grasp,
this doubt is faith’s reprise.
I know I'm lost in the right direction
because You're the true north I'm promised to,
even with anger in my inflexion,
when I’m lost,
I’m lost in You.
This poem is from a poetry collection of mine called ‘I Pray Thee, Mark Me’ where I take unusual, defunct or unused glyphs and punctuation as an anchoring theme for the words written in tempest seasons.
