Doubt Point
used to show doubt, disbelief, or skepticism without needing extra words or multiple question marks.
Come thee doubt with every blessing;
for it is a mark of faith.
Two sides of the same coin spinning
but rumination makes a lonely friend.
Feeling numb to the bone
and the bone is still showing,
on a wound you thought had healed
but needs more time,
why taunt me with these desires at all
if Yours do not align.
If lament is my only offering,
let it be heard
from the depths of discomfort and grief
I believe in the One,
the One everlasting
I believe
help my unbelief.
I've been found but I'm still searching,
'cause the tides of life are making me sick.
I could blame the moon, but you still made it
Perhaps my skin is too thin or maybe too thick
And I can't seem to trust my judgment anymore;
it's warped under the shadow of pain,
yet You hear my cuss words as holy
as any other prayer
prayed in Your name.
If lament is my only offering,
let it be heard
from the depths of discomfort and grief
I believe in the One,
the One everlasting
I believe
help my unbelief.
So come thee, question with every instinct,
come and be your broken self;
you won't scare away the almighty
for He holds all things - our stone of help.
Let His hope sustain you
when you have none left,
and unlearn the cutting words
your mind has said,
for He is the sculptor and continues to make
and to the end of days
remains His boundless grace.
If lament is my only offering,
let it be heard
from the depths of discomfort and grief
I believe in the One,
the One everlasting
I believe
help my unbelief.
This poem is from a poetry collection of mine called βI Pray Thee, Mark Meβ where I take unusual, defunct or unused glyphs and punctuation as an anchoring theme for the words written in tempest seasons.
