Love Point
a punctuation mark designed to look like a heart shape and indicate romantic subtext or amorous sincerity.
For bread to be shared, it must be broken
so that's what You did with your life.
The most painful death which was chosen,
the essence of sacrifice.
They put nails through the wrists of the king,
and a crown of thorns for the baby’s head.
Hung on a tree of His making
absolving our mess as He bled.
What kind of God gives their Son?
What kind of Son gives His blood?
What kind of people are worth that much,
of this beautiful covenant.
They buried Your body, enclosed in stone,
for two days You were gone from this earth,
On the third You rose and inherited the throne,
a body once broken now lifts death’s curse.
And there’s nothing that we can do,
to stop this love from splintering;
the work is done, it is finished,
now to live the life He's offering.
The ink never dries from love’s letter from Christ,
written with the blood of heaven’s kindness.
You're nailed again every time I choose death,
yet I'm raised come morning, for Your mercy is endless.
This poem is from a poetry collection of mine called ‘I Pray Thee, Mark Me’ where I take unusual, defunct or unused glyphs and punctuation as an anchoring theme for the words written in tempest seasons.
