Mariners Street Organ

I asked tasked with re-making this street organ that my church had in the 1800’s [seen in the above photograph]. We have the tall ships festival in Gloucester Docks every couple of years and Mariners Chapel is in the heart of the dockyard so we try to do something fun each time the festival rolls around. My friend sourced a keyboard which I then used to base the rest of the wooden frame around. I managed to use 98% reclaimed wood mostly from pallets from a friends farm. The wheels are from an old pram that I got my hands on nearby.

Here’s the finished piece on display in the Chapel. I tried y best to also re-create the graphic that looks painted on the organ. It was a lot of work but I was pretty pleased with the result.
