Mariners Hall
I’d been wanting to restore this sign outside out church hall for a while. It looked like original paintwork so would have been there most likely since 1845 but potentially could be older than that.
I started by re-pointing the lime mortar as it was crumbling away and would have been very difficult to paint over. Then came the scrapping off of paint which took a fair bit of time. Next time were the two coats of primer followed by the two top coats of cream and eventually the lettering to make it pop.
