Stories of
The Hurt & The Hopeful

2019

Over the season of Lent in 2019 I collected stories from 40 different people on the theme of confidence. The written pieces include personal experiences that have shaped lives and opened eyes with Faith being their cornerstone. This publication features all of the contributions in a concertina book. The horizontal and vertical strips on each side line up and form a cross when light passes through the page. From gathering the stories together I wrote a small paragraph to communicate the message of the project which is printed on the opposite side of the individual stories which you can read below.

Unrealistic expectations desperately try to replace reality. We question our worth despite the truth of our identity. I am still learning to rely on the I AM. His sacrifice is able to become my security.
And when I look at him, the struggle of instant gratification and need of toxic acceptance is overcome with peace.

Even when I feel defeated, hope and selfless grace never shy away. When my anxiety is crippling, He’s always listening and helping me to follow His stronger and seeking voice.

I now give my confidence to
The Way, and The Way is freedom.
