I've been studying the art and culture of the native tribes of North west America recently. I don't quite know why I am drawn to the art of this time but I think it might have something to do with the purity of it. Illustration doesn't come naturally to me but I wanted to challenge myself to create some art based on their style.

The images, maps, signs that were created in these environments were pure in their motives. They were not trying to sell anything, manipulate anything or convince anyone. They were simply trying to communicate their experience with the world and their tribes. I'd like to continue my research in the near future by looking more at the Maori (Kia Ora) and Aboriginals.
